OKLAHOMA CITY—More than 2,000 students statewide competed in the 2026 American Farmers & Ranchers (AFR) Cooperative Poster Contest. Participation is limited to Oklahoma elementary students in two age divisions—Division I for students in grades 1-2 and Division II for students in grades 3-4. The top five posters in each division received cash awards. Through agriculture-based themes, the annual contest allows educators to promote agriculture and to introduce aspects of the industry to students and parents alike. This year’s theme was “Plow It. Plant It. Pick It. Plate It.”
AFR Youth ProgramRead MoreOKLAHOMA CITY— Twenty-eight Oklahoma youth were recognized as recipients of the 2025 American Farmers & Ranchers (AFR) Cooperative Statewide Scholarship at the 2026 AFR Annual Convention. AFR’s annual state scholarships are available to qualified students in all 77 Oklahoma counties. Students are eligible to apply for the AFR Incoming Freshman State Scholarship during their senior year of high school. Students may then apply for the AFR Continuing Education State Scholarship throughout their undergraduate career. Both previous and first-time applications are eligible for the AFR Continuing Education Scholarship.

Ko Brooks, Mattie Pettus and Kathleen Leeper all of Alva, each received $500 scholarship. Brooks plans to attend Northwestern Oklahoma State University to study biology pre-veterinarian with a minor in animal science. Pettus plans to attend Oklahoma State University to study plant and soil sciences. Leeper plans to attend Northern Oklahoma College to study agriculture business.
